Reverend Lishers. Mahone, Jr.has been
ministering for 39 years, 27 of those have been at Brown Chapel AME Church in
Joliet, IL.He received his biblical and theological training from the Moody Bible Insitute
in Chicago, IL and through private studies within the AME Church.
Pastor Mahone has also received an honorary degree from Monroeville College.
Reverend Lishers Mahone became the pastor of Brown Chapel AME Church
in November 1981, Pastor Mahone faced a heavy indebitness from a previous
remodeling project. Under his leadership and a dedicated congregation in the church
the debt was eliminated in 1990, and Brown Chapel
celebrated its 109th Anniversary with the burning of the church mortgage
along with a bank note for property it had purchased on Mills Rd. and Burger Street,
in Joliet, IL. "Giving God the Highest Praise and Thanks" Brown Chapel held its first service
in the new Sanctuary on January 31, 1993. The membership continues to grow numerically and
spiritually with large numbers of members tithing and participating
in bible classes. There are many ministries offered to enhance our
Christian journey. He shares his life with his wife, Betty Mahone, and is the
father of two sons, and one daughter,
He is also the grandfather of two grandchildren. |
